Water Ionizer: all we need to know

What is a Water ionizer?

Ionized water has been put through the electrolysis proces, an electrical process. Because of this process, the water has been splitted in Alkaline (anti-oxidant-rich ionized Alkaline water) and acid water. The electricity re-structures, re-organizes and re-energizes water. This causes the claim of being very healthy water. A claim, because there is no proof for this health benefits. Although, a lot of people claim Alkaline water to have helped them in so many ways.

The proces of making water Alkaline:

This is a 2 steps process.

First: Water will enter a filter to remove as many contaminants as possible. It will not remove all contraminants, but for a reason. The ionizer needs it to do its work properly.

Second: The electrolysis. The water runs over negative and positive electrodes. The impurities that are in the water will be attracted to the negative of positive poles. When this happends, the water will be seperated into Alkaline and acid stream.

The acid water could be used to clean your skin, or water plants.

Result: Alkaline Water is created. The pH level has increased and the anti-oxidant content is huge. This is measured in ORP (Oxidation Reduction Potential). This will be between -50 and -350. The lower, the better. Let's put this in perspective:

Some positive ORP scores:

• soda +400

• bottled water +350

• tap water +300

Some negative ORP scores:

• orange juice -50

• green tea -180

• Alkaline ionized water -350

What is the down side of an ionizer?

There filter job. They do a poor job. But you could put filtered water in your ionizer. If you really would like to set the pH value, this could be the solution for the poor filtering job.

What is the difference between an Alkaline Water Filter and a Water Ionizer?

The answer is pretty simple. Both will make water Alkaline water, but because the ionizer splits water into Alkaline and acid water, with the ionizer, you can select the pH value you would like!
