A shower filter will not soften water in the way a softener does, but it will remove chlorine and other chemical contaminants. This will make your shower water much less harsh and leaving your skin and hair feeling significantly softer!
The claim is that using this water shower filter can help your hair maintain its quality, look better and help the color to last longer. This is because healthier water with a more balanced pH has less of a drying effect on your hair.
Showering in unfiltered, chlorinated water can lead to dry skin, color-treated hair that turns green, or increased itchiness, exzema, and allergies.
Only the best shower filters will let you relax without having to worry about the potential negative effects of the chlorine.
So what do we need?
Check the type of filter!
Normal water filters, or drink water filters, do often have a carbon filter. This works great, but not on hot water! Make sure the filter will include compounds like copper, zinc and brass. Other names for these materials are redox media and KDF 55 filters.
Will the water pressure be lower?
Most shower filters on the market work with pressures that range from 20-80 psi. The lower the PSI, the more chance you will notice a reduction in pressure in your shower after installing it. Check the filter for this psi number.
Will it fit your shower base?
Another element to look for is if it will be suitable for your shower as well. Most of the filters will fit on all of the showers, but just good to make sure if this counts for you too.
